Twilight Lover

It is twilight,

         and I search

                  for the seal.

The selchie

      of legends;

          who’ll rise

                        from still grey waters,

            shed off

                 sleek wet skin,

        and take

human form.

And for a time

          who will hold and caress,

                              my mortal flesh;

           who will kiss with ancient passion

                                my salt wet lips;

until the moon beckons

        the return of

             slippery skin

                    to cool dark waters.

               Bearing

              the joyful longing

          of the lover

    that once was.
